How to Adopt
Are you interested in adopting one of our wonderful animals?
Fill out the Adoption Application (CAT|DOG) and submit it via email or drop it off at one of our four adoption centers. Please note that our listed animals are located throughout our four locations and across the San Diego Metropolitan area. Animals listed with “Temecula” in their name are located in the Temecula/ Murrieta area. To learn more about our adoption process please read below.
Adoption Process
The adoption process involves an application, a telephone interview, and a possible home check. Photos of your house and yard may be substituted for a home check in some cases. Introductions with prospective dogs/cats can occur at adoption events, at our adoption centers or at an arranged location if the dog/cat is in a foster home. Please understand that filling out an application does not guarantee that you will be selected to adopt one of our animals.
Prior to releasing a dog/cat to an adoptive family, an adoption contract will be executed and the adoption donation will be made at that time (cash only). The dog/cat will be current on vaccinations, will be microchipped and will also be spayed or neutered. Copies of all records in the possession of Shelter Pet Partners will be released to the adoptive family. Shelter Pet Partners does not normally adopt outside of San Diego Metropolitan area (which includes San Diego County and some areas of Riverside and Orange County) except in extraordinary circumstances. An additional questionnaire will be required prior to adopting to military personnel.
